I've never been abroad so it's neat to hear how different things can be in different countries and all.
I seriously doubt that I will ever go to either place but I would like to go to Italy and Paris, France.

Well, Lori, if you're gonna take ME out, it's about 1200 miles from Denver to Columbus and I'm about 30 miles NE of Columbus, so is THAT far enough lol? And if those are my only 2 choices, I'll take KFC. We don't have an IHOP- does KFC have pancakes?

Hubby told me to order a new puter from Dell yesterday so I did. That had BETTER not be my Valentine's present because all of us use the puter. Well, ok I use it the most but I have a feeling that is about to change because he said, "Since this one has more memory, I'm gonna load my Mech Warriors and Deer Hunter 2 games on it. I'll never get to get on here again now!! LOL!!

everything is always soooo different in each country even just within europe. I'm still not used to crossing the road in England, since the cars drive on the left so I get confused as to which direction will the first hit come from lol! Some drivers have got pissed off at me for crossing the road thinking they won't be coming this way, and shouted something like "ARe you blind?" at me and I've just always shouted back "NO, I'm Finnish!"

The other thing I am confused about still is greeting ppl you know. In Finland I'd just give them a biig warm hug [img]graemlins/hug.gif[/img] [img]tongue.gif[/img] but here they do the kissy on the cheek thing. Twice. I got used to the French 3 times but now I'm just confused.
And also if you pass someone you know they are going to say Hey how are you, and not stop to listen to your answer! You're meant to say How are you back! I can't do that I want to answer the question presented to me LOL, freaks these Britts are.

Other things are weird too, the toilets don't flush and the windows are never double glazed, beer comes in pints and half pints, they play pool instead of billiard, they eat more chips (Britt. crisps lol) in a day than foreigner could digest in a month etc..

Then there's the money issue! First Finland got Euros so I had to get used to the idea of 1€ being 5,9 or 6 old marks. Now I came to England finding out that a pound is 1,814 euros. In other words ?1 is about 10 old marks. I can handle it now but at the beginning I didn't know what I was paying.

The biggest problem is the assessments. The Word program on my computer is on American English.. and I get soo much crap for submitting my spelling in American English instead of British English lol! Especially the older teachers deduct my grades and write "learn English in England". I figured there wouldn't be that much of a difference but apparently there is.

Anyone know how to change the spellcheckr in Word from American to British English so they won't throw me out just yet? lol
